Security Engineer Intern (LLM Security & Testing)
About the role
We are looking for a Security Engineer Intern to help us explore, test, and build tools around the security of Large Language Models (LLMs). This role sits at the intersection of AI, security, and systems thinking.
You will work closely with our core team on evaluating how LLMs behave under adversarial or unexpected conditions and on building internal tools to support testing, analysis, and mitigation.
This is a hands-on role designed for someone who enjoys breaking things (ethically), asking "what if?", and learning by doing.
What you will work on
- Testing LLMs for security, safety, and misuse scenarios
- Designing and executing structured test cases for LLM behavior
- Exploring prompt injection, data leakage, hallucinations, and misuse patterns
- Helping design or build internal tools for LLM evaluation and testing
- Documenting findings clearly and sharing insights with the team
- Assisting in research, experimentation, and proof-of-concept work
What we are looking for
You do not need to know everything — curiosity matters more than credentials.
Required:
- Strong interest in cybersecurity and AI/LLMs
- Basic understanding of security concepts (threat modeling, attack surfaces, misuse cases)
- Comfortable with at least one programming language (Python preferred)
- Willingness to experiment, test assumptions, and learn independently
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, or ML concepts
- Experience with security testing, CTFs, labs, or security projects
- Exposure to cloud platforms, APIs, or automation scripts
- Interest in AI safety, responsible AI, or model evaluation
What you will gain
- Hands-on experience working on real LLM security problems
- Exposure to emerging AI security and safety challenges
- Opportunity to contribute to internal tools and research
- Mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers
- A meaningful project you can talk about in future interviews
Who this is for
- Students or recent graduates in CS, security, or a related field
- People who enjoy breaking systems to understand them better
- Those who want to work on problems that do not yet have clear answers
- Comfortable operating in an early-stage, fast-learning environment
